Why Biodegradable Brazilian Sponge?
C Soap Cleaning Bars of Soap needed a mate in fighting grease and grim…
It couldn’t be any conventional synthetic sponge. It needed to be an alternative to the artificial sponges that break down in the environment, polluting our water and becoming harmful to marine life.
The biodegradable sponge is also known as Loofah (or Bucha in Portuguese). A lot of people thinks it comes from the ocean, but it´s a vegetable and because of that, it’s naturally compostable.
It is important that all products C Soap uses are ethically produced with as little environmental impact as possible.
Earlier this year, the C Soap team drove over 900km away from São Paulo city to visit the farm and learn the entire growing process.
Meeting the kind family responsible for this amazing product was a special day for us. Carmen, a very strong woman, runs the farm with her son’s help and more than 30 farmers.
The sponge is planted, harvested and produced by hand. The farmers only use a few machines that they created. The production takes 8 months, from beginning to end, and is done with a lot of dedication.
This sponge can be used to clean anything, it doesn’t scratch the more sensitive surfaces, yet it’s strong enough to take the dirt off items like pots, pans, and dishes.
Tip: If you need extra help, just use some baking soda with a little bit of water, to create a little paste and scrub it all off.
The Biodegradable Brazilian Sponge is also an amazing exfoliant for your skin. It helps to get rid of dead skin and improve your blood circulation.
